Many years ago my husband and young granddaughter convinced me to "just go and look" at a boxer. Well, we went and what I saw amazed me. There stood a magnificent male brindle with a black mask and pointy ears. He was somewhat intimidating at first considering his size and a body that was mostly muscle, but then it happened he gave hugs and kisses and decided we were his family and that was the beginning of our life with boxers.
So, when some one ask either my husband or myself what best describes a boxer, (not a simple one or two word answer) we reply with many of the following descriptions: intelligent, beautiful, loyal, agile, friendly, loving, trustworthy, companionship, playful, great temperament, and the very best is they seem to love and protect family and especially children. Most likely because they are just over grown kids in a fur suit.
AKC states it the best, "the boxer notable characteristic is the desire for human affection. Don't let their looks deceive you, the boxer is happiest when when he is with people - especially children".
We decided to breed boxers, not entirely for the money but our love of the breed. We strongly adhere to the Boxer Breed Standards. Our girls are within for height and weight standard. The studs that we use are within the standard as well. There are some breeders out there that just see the dollar signs and don't really care about the well being of the boxer. They keep them in kennels most of the time and the dogs have very little human interaction. Not our girls, they are with us all the time, they go for regular rides in the car, the go out for walks, they even have their own loveseat in our living room. They get along very well with our 3 year old Shih Tzu, Dixie. We do crate them when we have to leave the house and they can't go with us, they love their crates and we recommend using them for the safety of the dog when they can't be supervised for long periods of time.
The puppy's are home raised and receive plenty of attention from birth until they find their new homes. This socialization makes for happy and healthy puppy's. We give them toys in the whelping box that are safe such as hard rubber chews. We are NOT A PUPPY MILL. We only use top quality AKC registered studs. Our AKC registered puppy's will have their dewclaws removed, tails will be docked, they will be dewormed and up to date on all of their shots, and have the proper health certificate given by our licensed veterinarian. They will have a 1 year health guarantee against genetic defects. At the time of delivery or shipment, the puppy will come with their AKC registration papers, tails docked and dew claws removed, a copy of current Health Certificate, a requirement per Florida Law.
Before buying a puppy from us or anyone else, remember that a puppy is at least 9-10 year commitment. Please make sure that you and your family are prepared for the care and the cost that goes along with having a dog.
